Library of the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media
With around 300,000 media units, the HMTMH library is one of the largest conservatoire libraries in Germany. The library is divided into a central library and subject-related sub-libraries. In the fields of media and communication studies, the university libraries of HMTMH and Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts form a joint library in the Kurt-Schwitters-Forum.
In the central library in the main building of the university, you will find sheet music, sound recordings, books on music and other types of media. Numerous electronic services round off the offer. The books cover all areas of musicology, music theory, instrumentology, rhythm, music theatre, pedagogy, psychology and sociology.
The sub-libraries contain more specialised literature on Jewish music (Library of the European Centre for Jewish Music), on gender issues in music as well as historical sources of female composers (Library of the Research Centre Music and Gender) and on music education (Music Education Research Library).
In 2023, the Central Library, the Library of the European Centre for Jewish Music and the Music Education Research Library will move to the building at Leisewitzstr. 39, 30175 Hannover. The preparations for the move will be documented in a blog.
