Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB)
We organize information for tomorrow’s knowledge
The TIB – Leibniz Information Centre for Technology and Natural Sciences and University Library – is the German Central Library for Technology, Architecture, Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics and Physics and provides science, research and business with literature and information. Its task is to preserve the recorded knowledge and to provide current information independent of place and time – today and in the future. The library is committed to Open Access and thus supports unrestricted and free access to scientific information. In its function as a university library, it provides information to all faculties of Leibniz Universität Hannover.
The TIB is constantly expanding its role as the German information centre for the digitisation of science and technology: It conducts applied research and development in order to generate new services and optimise existing ones. The focus is on Data Science & Digital Libraries, Scientific Data Management, non-textual materials, Open Science and Visual Analytics. Currently, the TIB is working on, among other things, how knowledge graphs can change the exchange of knowledge.
The TIB provides scientific content and digital services for specialist and research communities at www.tib.eu and thus supports various phases of scientific work. Through its research and ordering portal, the TIB offers access to its excellent stock of basic and highly specialized technical and scientific information. This also includes knowledge objects such as 3D models, research data and audiovisual media. In the TIB’s AV-Portal scientific videos from technology and the natural sciences can be searched precisely.
The TIB is a foundation under public law of the State of Lower Saxony. It is a member of the Leibniz Association.
