Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Faculty III Media, Information and Design

Internationally oriented and regionally anchored, the university offers an extraordinarily broad range of subjects. Around 500 lecturers teach around 10,000 students in 72 degree programmes. In addition to technology, economics and social sciences, Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts also offers a wide range of media and creative study programmes of internationally renowned quality.

For more than 40 years, Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HsH) has been training librarians for work in academic libraries. Library training is integrated into the Information Management degree programme.  Currently, the HsH offers about 80 places per year in the full-time Bachelor’s degree programme in Information Management and 32 in a part-time Bachelor’s degree programme. In the regular programme, students choose two from the six fields of competence Library, Knowledge Services, Information Didactics, Media Knowledge, Data Science and Web Information Management. Students who have chosen the library competence field and complete a six-month internship in an academic library receive the career qualification “Academic Services in Libraries (Career Group 2)”.  The part-time degree programme offers the library field of competence and a selection of subjects from the other fields of competence.

The two degree programmes are taught by 12 professors and teachers for special tasks. Through student projects, externally funded projects and the use of experts from information practice, we ensure a connection to current developments in the sector.
